About the deck

The Taipei 101 Observatory spans floors 89 (indoor, 382m) and 91 (outdoor, 449m). The 91st-floor outdoor deck at 449 metres is Asia's third highest outdoor observation deck. The outdoor area wraps the building's upper crown section with views of Taipei Basin, the surrounding mountains, and on clear days, the Taiwan Strait.

Taipei 101 has a Vanity Ratio of 13.8% - 70.2m of spire above the 438m occupied floors. The indoor floor 89 also contains the building's famous 660-tonne steel pendulum used for wind damping..

The honest take

The Taipei 101 observation deck is at 449 metres. The architectural top is 508 metres. The 59-metre spire above the deck is visible as you look up - a useful reminder that the building is claiming 508m while your feet are at 449m. The 13.8% Vanity Ratio is moderate. The views are not.
